Abstract

This research is based on the gap from the phenomenon found in madrasah ibtidaiyah yaa bunayya about students' enthusiasm for English where students tend to be lazy and bored when learning English in class. This research aims to find out how the process of learning English at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Yaa Bunayya and what are the barrier and supportive factors. This research uses qualitative methods with a pedagogical approach. Data processing techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. This research data is analyzed using data reduction, display and data conclusion drawing. From this study, it was found that in the process of learning English in grade 5 madrasah ibtidaiyah there are stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation. Teachers play an important role in classroom management, applying learning media, and designing methods that make students more active and enthusiastic in participating in the English learning process. However, the determination of media and methods used is less appropriate in attracting students' attention. Students feel dissatisfied with the monotonous media and methods and want more interesting teaching such as games. There are barrier and supportive factors. The barrier factors cause students to be slow in learning English, and the supportive factors are teachers, parents, and students encouraging students and themselves to master English as a provision for higher levels. The results show that the role of teachers in implementing interesting strategies such as games can attract students' attention to learning English, especially in teaching media and methods to facilitate students in learning English.
