Abstract

Students' motivation in learning EFL changes, which is influenced by several factors, namely teacher attitude and teaching methods. Teachers' attitudes towards students tend to be unpleasant and boring. English learning should be fun so that students' motivation to learn can increase. Choosing the right and fun learning model can increase students' interest and enthusiasm in learning English. This study aims to find out how the English learning process and what are the supporting and barriers factors that affect student motivation in learning English. The study employed a qualitative descriptive qualitative research methodology. Students from XI Midwife and EFL Teachers at SMKS YPKP TIK Jayapura Regency served as the study's subjects. In this study, data are gathered through interview and observation. The results showed that First, it was found in the preparation stage that EFL teachers conducted a process of motivating students with the intention of developing students' interest in participating in the learning process and motivation as a means of triggering students' prior knowledge of the material. The smoothness of the learning process is supported by positive variables or what is called supporting factors including the provision of proper classrooms in a friendly school atmosphere as well as the support and motivation of teachers and families. While barriers factors or so-called barriers factors are factors that can hinder the learning process, where these factors arise from various kinds, for example the attitude of the teacher in teaching, where the teacher must have a good way of speaking and providing good language.
